This is all absolutely brilliant, Paleo! So glad I finally got the chance to read it. And it opened my eyes to something, too - a few years back I was associated with a person who turned out to be (for want of a better term) a psy-vampire. Every time she was around me, I'd feel drained. My good moods would turn bad with no reason, and I would just get more and more tired.
Around the same time, we had a COMPLETELY random infestation of fleas in the house. Random because we have no outside animals - only indoor cats. And no one in the house worked anywhere where fleas were a problem and would've come home with them.
When we found out what this person was (even though what she was doing to me was not conscious), and cut ties with her... the flea infestation disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.
And now as I think back on it, I find myself wondering if the infestation was Flea trying to warn me of the vampiric presence I was allowing to feed upon me.
